Worship The Lord

In The Beauty Of Holiness

1 Chronicles 16:29 - Psalm 29:2 - Psalm 96:9

By Michael O'Connor

The above title is drawn from Psalm 96:9, wherein our Lord is giving firstly, a Divine command, and secondly, the method by which that command is to be realized! Worship the Lord . . . but do so in the Beauty of Holiness! Perhaps some would ask: “How is this to be accomplished? . . . What is the Beauty of Holiness? . . . How may we thusly worship the Lord?”

Even the writing of numerous volumes, could never exhaust this great subject, much less a brief article such as you are now reading! There is, however, a very high and holy portion of Scripture from which we shall extract one verse, due to its poignancy in relation to the matter at issue.

Psalm 110 is a Psalm of David, who was indeed a prophet under the Old Covenant, and a fore-type of Christ! Such notable scholars as: Stanley Frodsham, Gustav Hoyer, Edwin Corley, and others have declared the Davidic Psalms to be prophetical and Messianic in nature! Such is very clearly the case with Psalm 110, for it speaks of the Day of the Lord! Verse 3 is the verse which we shall briefly examine:

"Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth."

The above verse is one of the most significant verses in all of Holy Writ, pertaining to the Day of the Lord. It is a verse of dual fulfillment, for it speaks of the “Day of His power,” which is clearly the Church Age: In its more consummate fulfillment, it speaks of the Millennial Age, and forward into the ceaseless ages of eternity.

This verse speaks of a People who shall become “free-will offerings” unto the Lord, in this, His glorious day! How very significant that the Hebrew words employed for “beauties of holiness” are:

1. Beauties (Hebrew: “hadar” = ornaments or clothing; apparel; array of splendor; ornamental glory; honor; majesty; and excellency).

2. The word employed for Holiness (Hebrew = “qodesh” = a separateness [sanctification] unto God; apartness; sacredness; that which is hallowed).

While many folk today persist in their claim that “Bible Holiness” has absolutely nothing to do with dress and appearance, Psalm 110:3 speaks of the people of God, who will in the day of His Power, have a "holy array;" and an accompanying appearance, which is very clearly indicated as being those who are separated unto God, and hallowed unto Him! The verse speaks also of this separated, holy people who have come forth from the “womb of the morning” (indicating that they have been birthed into this new and glorious day of the Lord)!

This verse speaks also of the Lord having the dew of His youth. This has nothing to do with the young years of our Lord Jesus in His earthly life. A more correct rendering from the Hebrew is: “unto Thee belongs and is the right to claim and possess the dew of Thy young ones.” The next question is: What is meant by “the dew?” This is far more than just the fleeting blush of youthful beauty! What is actually being conveyed here is that amongst these “young ones,” there is a dew which speaks of the moisture and life within young people (even as the sap within a tree), which without belaboring the fact, is speaking very clearly of that seed of life which God has placed in His people.

Malachi speaks of this matter: “And did not He make one? Yet had He the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That He might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth” (Malachi 2:15).

Isaiah prophesied concerning Jesus: “Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand” (Isaiah 53:10). Some have wrongly used this Scripture in an attempt to suggest that Jesus had natural children during His earthly life. Such is completely unfounded and in complete error. He is very clearly speaking here of a godly seed; that is, “spiritual children.” The purpose for Christian marriage is that the “righteous seed” shall be perpetuated and preserved in the Earth.

"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it" (Proverbs 22:6).

"Lo, children are an heritage [Hebrew: “nachalah” = possession, property, inheritance] of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward" (Psalm 127:3).

So much could be written on this, as it is a very large subject indeed! For this time, we have just felt very impressed to include in this article a few thoughts concerning this great truth! Concerning this matter, I feel compelled to speak a few words, especially to the young people in our churches, and as well to all married Christians who are of child-bearing age.

Beloved in Christ, you must realize and understand that your life is only loaned to you; it is not yours to own, nor squander foolishly in an attempt to satisfy your own lusts and desires. As Born-Again followers of Christ, we are called to be a holy people (that is, a sanctified, separated people! This separation is: from the world, and unto the Lord)!

The seed of life which God has placed in you is meant to be kept holy and sacred for marriage, wherein there will spring forth from the seed a progeny and offspring to be raised in the fear, nurture, and admonition of our Lord, growing before Him as tender plants.

"Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table" (Psalm 128:3).

My beloved young brothers and sisters, I speak to you as a father; not to be hard upon you, but to declare unto you the right way, whereby your souls may be saved from sorrow, grief, and possible destruction. Listen to me! HEAR ME! The seed of God within you belongs to God! Your life belongs to God! Your bodies belong to God! That seed contains the germ of life which will bring forth children unto the Lord! That seed is not yours to squander in whoredom, lust, and fornication! Oh, I must be bolder still to get the truth into your hearts, my dear children; that seed is not yours to sow among harlots, or to sow in perverse acts; it is not yours to throw away as refuse in a condom; that seed belongs to a holy marriage with a life-mate who will walk with you in the ways of the Lord, where you may raise your children together for the Lord. There is much which could be said concerning “the generation of the Lord,” and “the seed of the Lord.” Please! I humbly beg you to harken unto these words and ponder them in your hearts; meditate on them and ask the Lord to make them real to you!

This subject runs from Genesis to Revelation; the Scripture references are many; but we herein shall cite several, which deal more, with the “Principles of Holiness.” It is understandable that these principles must be established in the life of a Believer, before he can truly: “Worship the Lord in the Beauty of Holiness.”

"Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked" (Proverbs 24:19).

"It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink" (Proverbs 31:4).

"But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself" (Daniel 1:8).

"Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me" (Matthew 16:24).

"He must increase, but I must decrease" (John 3:30).

"Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed" (John 6:27).

"Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep" (Romans 12:15).

"For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called" (1 Corinthians 1:26).

"Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day" (1 Corinthians 4:13).

"Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you" (2 Corinthians 6:17).

"Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God" (2 Corinthians 7:1).

"But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men" (Philippians 2:7).

"I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need" (Philippians 4:12).

"To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints" (1 Thessalonians 3:13).

"And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Thessalonians 5:23).

"Of whom the world was not worthy: they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth (Hebrews 11:38).

"Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin" (Hebrews 12:4).

"Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?" (James 2:5).

"Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy" (1 Peter 1:16).

"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him" (1 John 2:15).

Heavenly Grace and Dignity:

All we do in our Christian lives should be seasoned with heavenly grace and dignity! This applies as well unto our Christian gatherings, including preaching; teaching; singing; music, praise; worship; Spiritual-Gift operations; and spiritual manifestations!

Worship services are not the place for “cat-calls,” “high-fives,” “sport-whistles,” and the like! So many today, feel a need to display themselves, and to be seen and heard in Christian gatherings! Many such scenarios more resemble Rock Concerts, Raves, or Sports Events; than an occasion granting us the privilege of coming reverently and humbly into the presence of the King of all Kings! Would any dare approach even an Earthly Potentate, in the manner and appearance by which so many today approach our Beloved Lord Jesus?

Notwithstanding, there are acts of worship which are commanded by our Lord; which when brought forth in sincere humility and reverence, are very beautiful and edifying to all! Indeed, even hardened sinners, when beholding such, are often convicted and drawn to our Lord Jesus (especially is this true of those genuine utterances in tongues, interpretations, and prophetic utterances – 1 Corinthians, chapters Twelve through Fourteen).

God's Changeless Plumbline:

Times have changed, but “...the Word of God shall stand forever” (Isaiah 40:8). Our Lord Jesus is “the same yesterday, today, and forever!” (Hebrews 13:8). Regardless of the cooling-off, and stultification of the Contemporary Church, God's Word remains unchanged! His definitive commands remain unaltered! We are commanded to:

Play skillfully with a loud noise:

"Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise" (Psalm 33:3).

Clap our hands unto the Lord:

"O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph" (Psalm 47:1).

Fall before the Lord:

"Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him" (Psalm 72:11).

Bow before the Lord:

"O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker" (Psalm 95:6).

Make a joyful noise:

"Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands" (Psalm 100:1).

Shout unto God:

"Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy" (Psalm 132:9).

Praise His name in the dance:

"Let them praise his name in the dance..." (Psalm 149:3).

"Praise him with the timbrel and dance..." (Psalm 150:4).

Praise the Lord upon instruments:

"Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp" (Psalm 150:3).

"Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs" (Psalm 150:4).

"Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals" (Psalm 150:5).

Sing and rejoice:

"Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the LORD" (Zechariah 2:10).

Walk up and down:

"And I will strengthen them in the LORD; and they shall walk up and down in His name, saith the LORD" (Zechariah 10:12).

Leap for joy:

"Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven..." (Luke 6:23).

Speak and pray with tongues:

"I would that ye all spake with tongues..." (1 Corinthians 14:5).

"...forbid not to speak with tongues" (1 Corinthians 14:39).

Interpret tongues:

"To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues" (1 Corinthians 12:10).

Prophesy:

"For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted" (1 Corinthians 14:31).

"Despise not prophesyings" (1 Thessalonians 5:20).

Lift-up holy hands:

"I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting" (1 Timothy 2:8).

In this shocking “Laodicean-day,” the fear of the Lord, and reverence for the Divine is all but lost, to the “Contemporary Church Movement.” Had this “creeping-menace” encroached more slowly, perhaps the shock would not be so accute; but the suddenness with which this “new wave” crashed down (as a tsunami) upon the Church-World, is nearly beyond comprehension!

"Stunt-Men" in the Church?

I recall the shock I experienced some years ago, when a Pastor informed me of his plan to bring into his church, a group of young “Charismatic muscle-men.” He handed me a glitzy brochure displaying these physical culturists, clad in rather revealing briefs. I at once retorted: “These are Christians? Why are they nearly naked? What do they wear when they perform?” You may imagine my disbelief when he informed me: “This is what they wear! These shots were taken during an actual church program!” I was shocked, stunned, and angry! How could this be? Is this what the Charismatic Movement now embraces? Has it sunk so low as to make “heroes” of nearly-naked “stuntmen?” Has it given its platforms and pulpit areas over, to a display of the flesh, resembling little more than a “male-burlesque?” Has it become so corrupt as to feel not a twinge of conviction in the flaunting (in the very House of God) of semi-nudity, and glorification of the male-form? Is it not ashamed to foist this (as a spiritual encounter) upon women and even young girls in its congregations? This was my first real “wake-up-call,” concerning the lethal wave of deception which had come, as a harbinger of even worse things to follow!

"OH! PLEASE, BLESSED LORD JESUS:

HELP US TO STAND IN THIS EVIL DAY

OF COMPOMISE AND RETROGRADE ! ! !

"It Pays The Bills:"

Many Pastors at that time were very impressed and enamoured by the manner in which such venues could pack their churches and fill their offering plates! Such was a contributing factor in the nearly wholesale embracement of such “celebrities,” by what came to be increasingly known as the: “Mainstream;” “cutting edge;” or “new wave” (the embryonic stages of the Super-Church movement).

"Show-Biz" in Church?

What followed was very much like a resurrection of old-time “Vaudeville;” with its variety shows, specialty acts, fire-eaters, sword-swallowers, etc. Oh, yes! Vaudeville had its “stunt-men,” and its “strong-man” acts, as well, but by comparison, those men were for the most part, clothed in a more modest manner! In the more acceptable Vaudeville shows, both “tops and bottoms” were required apparel for male performers! Only in the most tawdry side-shows, and burlesque acts, were men permitted to perform “topless.”

Who Has Changed?

It may come as a surprise to the modern generation, that as recently as post World War II, nearly all respectable beaches required men to wear both trunks and tank tops for public swimming. Until the mid-1960's, nearly all Holiness, Pentecostal, and many Fundamental, and Evangelical denominations and churches, frowned upon public mixed-bathing (that is, Christian men and women, swimming in close proximity in a non-family setting).

"Too extreme," you say? Perhaps, but one thing is certain: There was far less sin, adultery, and divorce within local church fellowships; than today, when most of the larger Charismatic churches now boast of gender-inclusive gyms, exercise rooms, pools, and in some cases, even saunas and hot-tubs! I suppose they feel justified in providing such: “Good, clean, family-oriented, entertainment,” for their parishoners, citing the fact that “no nudity is permitted” enquote. I have been informed that in most such cases, the required attire for men is at least a swimming brief; and for the women, at least a two-piece bikini. This is to me almost beyond comprehension! Let it be known unto all who read, that I certainly do not subscribe to such compromised behavior at all, but especially not in a so-called “church setting!” After reading the above, do we wonder why we see such a high-tide of sin, worldliness, and rebellion in the churches?

Prayer:

Dearest Lord Jesus, please have mercy, and send your refining fire and holy conviction before it is eternally and everlastingly too late. Oh! Lord, open the eyes of your people to their dangerous condition! Give them an ear to hear, and a heart to turn again unto you! Oh! Please grant a space of repentance to all who will hear, and who are yet capable of feeling conviction of your Holy Spirit! Lord Jesus, please extend mercy! Amen!

"Ballet" in the Church?

Sometime shortly following my shock at the “Muscle-Men,” I was invited to a church service where for the first time, I witnessed the “dancers” (or, Choreography Team). I had been forewarned, but I honestly was unprepared for what I was about to witness. During the “worship,” the drummer gave a sudden, jarring roll, with crashing and thumping, which was apparently a cue for the dancers, who then rushed bare-footed, down the main aisle, cavorting and kibbutzing, as aspiring “ballerinas.”

It was painfully obvious that they were unskilled, and pitifully undertrained, but they did “steal the show!” I noticed that nearly every male in the audience, from young to old, was staring elatedly, and some were craning their necks in order take-in the “beauty” of the performance! There was nothing beautiful about the clumsily performed dance routine, but the young women, themselves, were all very beautiful and sensually appealing.

I must confess that I also was found guilty of “looking.” Of course, I did feel conviction and a grieving of the Holy Spirit! I looked away and asked forgiveness, for I was very wrong, for having let-down my guard! I sincerely believe it would have been difficult for any man to not take at least a cursory glance at so captivating a spectacle! There were a goodly number of these dancers: All young; all beautiful; all dressed in skin-tight pajamas of shining satin; from the shoulders of which floated long, gossamer veils. Please tell me what could have possibly been more captivating and sensually stimulating?

The tragic commentary is: I would have not chosen to enter a “burlesque-house,” but I went to a “church service,” where a most unexpected “performance” was thrown into my face! At that juncture in time, this “choreography-fad,” along with the “laughter-craze,” was sweeping America and Europe. As a movement, it was well established, but because my circles of fellowship were outside that domain, I was experiencing the same for the first time.

I have seen a wild assortment of fads come and go, since the early days of the Charismatic Movement! Fads always come, have their day, and then fade-out, and are gone, as if they had never been!

"A WICKED AND ADULTEROUS GENERATION SEEKETH AFTER A SIGN [OR FAD]" (Matthew 16:4).

Fads are people and experience-based! They center and focus upon themselves; not upon Jesus Christ and His Holy Word! Fads are often precursors to cultish fervor, which invariably leads to apostasy!

The Four Mind-Types:

1. The Carnal Mind: Centered upon people, things, and pleasure.

2. The Natural Mind: Centered upon places, events, and experiences.

3. The Advanced Mind: Centered upon ideas, concepts, and knowledge.

4. The Renewed Mind: Centered upon Jesus Christ; His Scriptures; Serving and pleasing Him; Winning the Lost, and advancing His Kingdom.

Judge Not Lest Ye Be Judged!

(Matthew 7:1)

Please understand that while I am not in agreement with the New-Age counterfeits, so popular today, it is not my purpose (nor indeed my place) to levy criticism against the persons so involved! I am confident that the young sisters at issue were sincere in their desire to “serve the Lord,” as part of the dance troupe. Surely, they must have believed they were engaged in a “worship-ministry.” I knew the Pastor to be an earnest and dedicated brother who had won many souls, and who over the years had been an exemplary and dedicated servant of Christ!

It is no secret that my disagreement with certain matters is strong and uncompromising; but concurrently, I refuse to set myself-up as a critic, judge, or antagonist to anyone! I truly and sincerely love every member of our Lord's Body, and while I speak openly regarding my observances of facts and events, my umbrage is not directed against any fellow members in Christ's Body! I wish this to be clearly understood by all! Thank You! I am sent to call God's people back to the Old Paths! For this I cannot apologize! Notwithstanding, I must continue to love, bless, and pray for all; even those who may strongly disagree with my message. I sincerely love my Brothers and Sisters in Christ, and by our Lord's grace, I am a servant to all!

"A Fashion Show" in the Church?

Concerning the dancers to which reference is above made; while it is true that they were sensually attired, they were (at least in those years), well covered! More recently, a young missionary was invited to a service, during which he found it necessary to drop his head, and pray for our Lord's help to not “look” upon the unbelievable degree of female exposure displayed at close proximity; directly in front of the platform! There, numerous young women, wearing ultra-short hot-pants, plunging neck-lines, and bedecked with garish costume jewelry; pranced and strutted about, with their huge ear hoops swaying in rhythm with their scantily draped bodies; to the driving beat of the Hard-Rock “Christian” band! We must not fail to mention their heavily painted faces, long designer nails, and alluring, Cleopatric eyes! I ask you – Should one attend a service as above, only to be forced to behold such a display of flesh? Shocking debacles as above began in California some years ago, but have spread Eastward; and are now to be found in the Midwest, and even on the East Coast. Beloved, what will it take to turn the churches back unto the paths of their fathers?

The Creeping Menace!

More tragic still is the fact that a wide assortment of New-Age practitioners are now carrying a “false-gospel” to the Mission Fields! It follows them wheresoever they go, as a wake of sewage and vomit from Hell!

"FOR ALL TABLES ARE FULL OF VOMIT AND FILTHINESS, SO THAT THERE IS NO PLACE CLEAN" (ISAIAH 28:8).

A blessed Missionary-Elder, recently reported such a tragic condition in _________. This field had for many years enjoyed a genuine Awakening, and a continued move of the Holy Spirit; with the true conversions of many thousands of souls, and the raising-up of hundreds of churches! These dear folk were taught in principles of righteousness and holiness, and their lives bore witness to their bright testimonies! They loved the Word of God and His Praise and Worship (all in un-encumbered simplicity and sincerity)! Their lives and churches were Gospel-based, and were focused upon the Lord Jesus Christ! In this manner, were several generations raised-up in the Gospel! A good report? Yes... until certain American groups began to bring unto them “something new,” presented as: A Better Way, A New Move, And A Wave of the Future, etc. As is all too often the case, on the Foreign Fields: “If the Americans bring it, it must be good . . .”

"Entertainment" in the Church?

A group of national pastors sponsored a large convention: Our dear missionary friend was present, as one of the beloved “Fathers in the Faith,” unto these people (whom he had not been privileged, for some time, to visit). He was confused by all the “ostentation” in the meeting, and the strange new order of service! Now, there was pantomime; pageantry (which incidentally is derived from the word, “pagan”); entertainment; and worldliness! This missionary had been mightily used of the Lord amongst these folk, since the early days of God's Visitation unto them. It is understandable that he felt a great degree of concern and alarm, as a result of what he beheld.

At length, he turned to the coordinator seated beside him, and asked: “Brother ________, why all these preliminaries? When is the meeting going to begin?” He was informed: “This is the meeting . . . this is what the people desire . . . things are done differently now.” The missionary was sickened and grieved, even as was the Apostle Paul:

"BUT NOW, AFTER THAT YE HAVE KNOWN GOD, OR RATHER ARE KNOWN OF GOD, HOW TURN YE AGAIN TO THE WEAK AND BEGGARLY ELEMENTS, WHEREUNTO YE DESIRE AGAIN TO BE IN BONDAGE?" (Galatians 4:9).

"I TRAVAIL IN BIRTH AGAIN UNTIL CHRIST BE FORMED IN YOU" (Galatians 4:19).

"I DESIRE TO BE PRESENT WITH YOU NOW, AND TO CHANGE MY VOICE, FOR I STAND IN DOUBT OF YOU" (Galatians 4:20).

After the passage of more time wasted on extra-Gospel activities, the saddened missionary again spoke to the coordinator: “Now listen to me, Brother, if you do not stop this foolishness and bring this meeting into proper order, I will never again come here to minister!” Shortly thereafter, when the flesh had run its course, and the people had tired of their games, the coordinator instructed this statured Man of God: “Take twenty minutes to preach, but do not spend too much time on an invitation nor in praying over individuals.”

Heartrending accounts, as above, have been repeated, and re-repeated perhaps a thousand-fold by those whom have given their very lives to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ on the Mission Fields; only to see their work and efforts subverted and derailed by emissaries of the Wicked-One, entering as: “Wolves in sheep's clothing; false Apostles; false Prophets; false Teachers; and false Brethren! They sneak-in (or as Jude says: “crept in unawares” - Jude 1:4.), as “covert agents” sent to overthrow the Faith of as many as is possible! Who are they? What are they? The list is long by way of definition, but herein, a few descriptors will serve well:

"NEW AGE;"...“SOFT ON SIN;”...“EASY-BELIEVIST;”... “SELF-AGGRANDIZED;”...“MONEY-GRABBING PREACHERS;” SPOUTING: “INCLUSIVE,”...“AFFIRMING,”... “SEEKER-FRIENDLY SALVATION,” ETC.

These are as the “horse leach” (blood-sucking opportunists) crying: “Give, give... it is never enough!” (Proverbs 30:15).

It is not enough for them to have spread their lies, heresies, and false teachings throughout America, and to have polluted the ether waves with their errors! No! For them it is never enough! Now, they go increasingly to the “Regions-Beyond,” to sow their Hellish seed, and to instill into the hearts of the “Innocent,” their lethal lies and corrupt doctrines!

A Call To Prayer:

Oh! Beloved! All of you who read this, and are yet standing for Holiness, Righteousness, and for “the Faith which was once delivered unto the saints!” (Jude 3). Oh! Hear ye the call! Yea, hearken to the alarm! Arise all ye who know the power of prayer! Yea, arise and “weep between the Porch and the Altar!” Yea, “let thy tears be thy meat, day and night,” as ye intercede for your brethren upon the fields of the Earth, and for your brethren, the missionaries, whom your Lord has sent! Pray for these, the Lord's people, that they be not overthrown and destroyed by the Wicked-One! Pray that they shall receive grace to stand in the “evil day!” Pray that they shall have a love for the Truth, and hold fast that which is good!” Pray that they shall keep their eyes ever upon the cross, and upon the empty tomb! Pray that they shall see nothing before them but the Lamb of God! “And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only” (Matthew 17:8).

Our Great Example:

He left the “Ivory Palaces,” to be born in a cave, which served as a manger-stable for animals. He preached in fields; at a well; on the hillsides; in towns and villages; from a ship; on the roads; in the homes of the rich and poor; in the homes of a leper and of a corrupt tax collector; and in an upper room, being possibly the same upper room which served as the upper-story domicile of his disciples, which would become the site of the mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit, on the Day of Pentecost (Luke 22:12; Acts 1:13; Acts 2:1-4). Withal it must not be forgotten that He preached also in some of the most notable and significant synagogues! He barred no one from His meetings; not even prostitutes (Luke 7:37; John 12:3).

He was instant in every circumstance and situation; nor was He loathe to minister unto the most fallen souls; wheresoever the occasion was presented. So also must we be “instant in season, and out of season” (2 Timothy 4:2).

A Glorious Promise:

Jeremiah 31:10-13

(10) “Hear the word of the LORD, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock.

(11) For the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he.

(12) Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the LORD, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.

(13) Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow”

Below is a beautiful Scripture portion which is sung in many parts of the world. Because it corresponds with the above article, we have chosen to include it, and pray that it shall be a great blessing to you all.

Isaiah 62:4-7

Thou shalt no more be termed, Forsaken;

Nor thy Land be termed, Desolate:

"Hepzibah" and "Beulah" thou shalt married, be -

For the Lord is delighting over thee.

For as a young man marries a virgin,

So Thy sons shall marry Thee;

As the bridegroom rejoices over His bride,

So thy God shall rejoice over thee.

I have set watchmen upon thy walls, Jerusalem,

They shall never slumber, day nor night;

Ye who make mention of the Lord, Keep not silence,

Till He 'stablish and make Jerusalem a praise.

Chorus:

Till He make Jerusalem a praise in the Earth,

Till He make Jerusalem a praise;

Till He make Jerusalem a praise in the Earth,

Keep not silence, and give Him no rest!

P. S. - Please pray with us for our Lord's help posting audios of many beautiful hymns, choruses, and Scripture portions on our website, for the enjoyment and edification of our readers! We render the highest degree of thanksgiving and praise unto our precious Lord Jesus, for He has indeed helped us thus far! We shout:

EBENEZER! . . . EBENEZER! . . . EBENEZER !

(HITHERTO HATH THE LORD HELPED US!)

Our website has had most humble beginnings, amidst nearly impossible circumstances; but we praise and thank our Lord, that in less than two years, He has brought us unto this present moment; step by step; prayer by prayer; hour by hour; little by little; line upon line, and precept upon precept! For those unfamiliar with website-building, suffice to say it is a very difficult and demanding undertaking! Our improvements have been achieved with only the most fervent prayer, many trials, and profound labor, but . . . “GOD!

Thank you, heartily, for your continued prayers!

O WORSHIP THE LORD IN THE BEAUTY OF HOLINESS

johnmonsell.jpg

John S. B. Monsell, 1863.

O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness!
Bow down before Him, His glory proclaim;
With gold of obedience, and incense of lowliness,
Kneel and adore Him: the Lord is His Name!

Low at His feet lay thy burden of carefulness,
High on His heart He will bear it for thee,
And comfort thy sorrows, and answer thy prayerfulness,
Guiding thy steps as may best for thee be.

Fear not to enter His courts in the slenderness
Of the poor wealth thou wouldst reckon as thine;
For truth in its beauty, and love in its tenderness,
These are the offerings to lay on His shrine.

These, though we bring them in trembling and fearfulness,
He will accept for the Name that is dear;
Mornings of joy give for evenings of tearfulness,
Trust for our trembling and hope for our fear.

O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness!
Bow down before Him, His glory proclaim;
With gold of obedience, and incense of lowliness,
Kneel and adore Him: the Lord is His Name!

My dear friends:

I am so very thankful that you have found your way to our website. I sincerely hope that you have been helped by what you have read, but if you have never accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior; if you have never repented of your sins; if you are unsure of where you will spend Eternity; I humbly beg of you to not delay this most important matter. “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation...” (Hebrews 2:3). Because of my great love and concern for each one of you who come to this website (and for all souls everywhere), I sincerely invite you to click on the link below, so that I may speak to your heart and pray with you.

"Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen” (Jude 24-25).
