Writings On Prayer
I
desire above all things to learn to pray. We want to sound the reveille for the Christian warriors. We desire to find truth
of the lack of real praying. What is it? Why is it? Why so little time spent in prayer when Christ, who had command of His
time, chose to spend a great part of it in Intercession? “He ever liveth to make intercession for us.”
We
believe the answer to be the desire in the heart, but the will is undisciplined, the motive is present, but the affections
have not melted under hours of heavenly meditation; the intellect is keen, yet not for hours of tireless research. The intellect
and the affections have never been linked together by the sealing of the blessed Holy Spirit to do or die for God's glory
in secret places, with doors shut, lusts crucified.
I
call thee, O my brother, to hours of communion with God when the world will be lost to view and the shorelines cut for millions
of miles. The only sound will be the music of mid-ocean of God's love and approval; when He will hand you the keys of time
and eternity, and give you the “treasures of darkness and the hidden riches of secret places.”

The
Church of Jesus Christ is most certainly the best equipped army in the world. No, she does not have hydrogen bombs or guided
missiles. She does not need them since she has the weapons of prayer and fasting coupled with a living faith in God's unfailing
promises. Elijah prayed, and an apostate nation was compelled to acknowledge the true God. The early church prayed –
Peter was delivered from prison, and Herod suffered defeat. David Brainerd said, “From the sun half hour high till near
dark I was in an agony of prayer, and my clothes were wet as if dipped in water.” A mighty revival broke out among the
Indians when many believed who could not even comprehend the Gospel message. Robert Ingersol, the noted infidel, ran for governor
of Illinois. Some women shut themselves in to intercede that he would not be elected, and he wasn't.
A
wonderful promise like beaming star shines through the angry clouds that have gathered over this land of the free and home
of the brave: Luke 18:7, 8b, “And shall not God avenge His own elect which cry day and night unto Him, though He bear
long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily.” If you love your God, your children, your home, your
country, your freedom, and your church, go to your knees. Ordinary, half-hearted praying will not do.
It
must be the intercessory prayer of faith that comes from the true children of God. God Almighty is our only hope!
