Your Confession Is Your Destiny

By Pastor, David Minor, Sr.

“As truly as I live, saith the Lord, as you have spoken in My ears, so will I do to you" (Numbers 14:28).

God created the worlds and brought into being all things therein by the power of His spoken Word.  God said heaven and earth can pass, but when I speak a word, it shall stand.  If I send the Word to heal, then it brings healing.  If I send it to bless, then that word brings blessing.  If I send it to curse, then the plague comes upon the people.  My word never comes back to Me unless it performs the thing I sent it to do.

God created man in His likeness and in His image.  When God created man He gave him the same prerogative that he could speak a word of power.  God’s word is POWERFUL.  The word of man is POWERFUL.  Your words carry a power with them and within them.  Men have discouraged nations by words.  Men have also encouraged people by words to go on to heights that they could not have otherwise reached.

The book of Proverbs says the power of life and death is in the tongue (Proverbs 18:21).  I want to show you how the Israelites wrote their own ticket.  God had told them that He would bring them out into a land that flows with milk and honey.  But the Israelites began to murmur and to complain.  They said, “Who is this Moses?  He has brought us out into this wilderness.  We’re not able to possess that land.  We’re not able to go against those giants.”  Then God rose up and He said, “The Word that you spoke in my ear is going to come to pass.  You said you’re going to die and because you did not believe Me to bring you out into the land I promised you, you are going to die in the wilderness.  As I live, not one of you that has complained shall ever pull a grape out of the land of promise.  Not one of you is going to eat the honey on your biscuits or drink the milk that flows.  You said it and you’ll die in the wilderness.  That’s the word you spoke in My ear.  You’re going to have according to your speaking.”

A man’s faith never rises above the word that he speaks.  “If we say to this mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and doubt not in our heart, but believe that those things which we saith shall come to pass: we shall have whatsoever we saith” (Mark 12:23).  There is power in your confession.  As a man thinks, so is he.  The sum of our thoughts are our words.  In Proverbs the Bible tells us that we are ensnared by the words of our mouths.  What are YOU saying?  Beloved, when you speak a word for good or for bad that word goes out to perform the thing you spoke.  Every word that you speak has behind it a blessing or a cursing.  You are caught in a snare by the words of your own mouth.  Your confession can defeat you and your confession can be the thing that destroys you.  The words that you speak have spirit behind them.

Every word that you speak is like a boomerang.  You speak words of failure, you speak words of doubt, you speak words of unbelief and you will fall into a pit and a snare by those very words.  If you send out a word of blessing after awhile a blessing will return to you.  You put out a word of faith and a little later it returns and encourages you.  By your confession you are today what your confession was yesterday.

In times past I have gone through great pessimism, a time of great fear – the fear of man and the fear of failure.  I was so easily discouraged.  Then I realized why as I listened to my own words.  “I can’t do it.”  “The devil is on my back.”  “I’m so discouraged.”  “I don’t feel like it.”  “I don’t like him.”  “I don’t like her.”  “I’m annoyed.”  “I’m upset.”  The Word that I spoke forth created a spirit and an atmosphere.  They either ministered life or death to me.  When I’m faced with a situation I can say one of two things, “I just don’t feel well today” or I can jump out of bed and declare, “By His stripes I am healed.”  I can say, “I don’t like him” or I can say, “The love of God is shed abroad in my heart by the Holy Ghost.”  If you confess a thing long enough, you’ll feel it.  If you confess it long enough, you’ll have it!  It’s by YOUR confession.

Saul said, “I can’t do it.”  God said that there isn’t any need for him to try.

David’s brothers said, “We can’t do it.”  God said that they can’t do it.

David ran out and said, “I CAN DO IT!”  God said that he can do it.

Joshua and Caleb said, “WE’RE WELL ABLE TO DO IT!”  God said that they were going to do it.  As you confess it, so shall it be.  If you say, “We can’t pay our bills this month,” God says, “They can’t pay their bills.”  But if you will confess, “God will supply all my needs,” God says, “It’s on the way!”

You say, “I can’t afford it.”  God says, “You can’t afford it.”

Someone else says, “My Father is rich in houses and lands.”  God says, “They’ve got it.”  As you confess your weakness, you are weak.  As you confess you’re discouraged, you’re discouraged.  As you confess your sickness, you are sick.  If you confess poverty, you are poor.  If you confess God’s wealth you are going to be [prosperous].

As you confess the Mighty God and the promises of God, they become yours.  God told Joshua to be sure that the book of the law did not depart out of his mouth, but that he was to meditate day and night on it and to observe to do according to all that is written therein.  For then God would make his way prosperous and give him good success (Joshua 1:8).  He wanted Joshua to continually speak the Word of God and claim God’s promises.  God told Joshua, “I want My Word to be in you.  Never let My words stop going out from your mouth.  Keep repeating MY WORD.  Keep reiterating the promises.  Keep speaking My Word and meditate in it.”  Speaking the Word is not enough.  We must get before the Lord and read His Word, then think upon it and chew upon it like a cow chews her cud.  Then when the Word of God has become a part of us we will think like God thinks.  We will speak like God speaks – like a child that has repeated its parents’ words until it has the same vocabulary.

[If God’s Word] is in your mouth and you have meditated upon it, then you are going to prosper and have good success.  You’re going to be full of faith and full of power and full of victory!

Jesus said, “My words are spirit and they are life.”  Jesus never spoke one discouraging word in His life.  He never said one thing that was pessimistic or full of unbelief.  Jesus never once doubted the promises of God.  He never once spoke forth a word that would bring anything but life.

God is challenging us, “Will YOU believe My Word?  Will YOU speak My Word?  Will YOU stand upon My Word?”

Some of you are going to [believe and] speak your way right into glory and victory – right into faith and power – right into health and life – right on up out of defeat.  You are going to start speaking that Word of deliverance and health and wholeness and prosperity because it is the will of God – But YOU MUST SPEAK IT.

Your words have been words of death.  You’ve been speaking words of defeat, fear, doubt, anxiety and words of unbelief and [you have received] what you are speaking.  Your words have creative power to bring blessings upon your life, your body, your mind and upon your home.  So many of us think we’re blessed according to how good we are.  There is none good – no not one (Psalm 14:3).  If a man says he doesn’t sin, he’s a liar (1 John 1:8).  God honors faith.  He is not a respector of persons.  If you will believe the Word of the Lord, God will work for you.

Whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are of a good report, if there be any praise, if there be any virtue, think on these things (Philippians 4:8).  Where do your words come from?  Out of your heart is the sum of your meditation of thought.  Think – meditate on blessings.  Begin to think on health.  Begin to think on wholeness.  Begin to think on strength.  Begin to think on victory.  If you are sixty-five begin to feel fifty.  If you can’t pay your bills begin to look at your bank book as bulging.  If things around you are beginning to fall apart, begin to see them as whole.  If you’re discouraged begin to see yourself as a warrior or as a giant in God.  Begin to speak words of faith – I feel GOOD!  I feel YOUNG!  [I feel PROSPEROUS!]  I feel JOY!  I feel LIFE!  Your faith cannot go beyond your confession.  Confess and believe the Word of God and it’s going to come to pass.

“For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned” (Matthew 12:37).
