While in England, in the Spring of 1970, it
was my happy privilege to travel extensively in that lovely country, and to meet many dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
of English, Scottish, Irish, Dutch, African, and Caribbean Island extraction. What
a joy it was to see members of the Lord’s Body coming together in unity and unfeigned love, even though of different
colors and national origins. Dearest ones in Christ, it was truly refreshing!
One of the highlights of that trip was time
spent with Pastor Charles Price, and being in meetings at his Church-Fellowship, in Shepherd’s Bush, London. Oh! What glorious memories, and what powerful meetings!
Charles very kindly introduced me to a mighty woman
of faith: Mother Edith E. Rush, who was still conducting meetings in her home, and supporting nearly fifty missionaries when
she was in her Nineties. I met her at age 94.
She has authored two marvelous books: “A Brand Plucked From the Burning,” and “Forty Years of Peace,”
which were published by: “All Nations Gospel Publishers” of Pretoria, South Africa. Their web address is: www.angp.ch/english/index.htm (A picture of herself, her maid, and
I shall soon be posted).
Charles is a native of an area near Corpus
Christi, Texas, known as, Aransas Pass. I visited there with Bill Britton and
Bishop John and Pastor Anne Giminez in March, 1968. (The Aransas Pass/Padre Island
area is notorious for three things: Unbelievably fierce hurricanes; unbelievably hungry sharks; and unbelievably large game
fish.) During my visit to Padre Island, I saw a fellow reel-in a 35 pound Jew
Fish. This is fact, not a “fish-story.” The locals on the pier told me that a Jew Fish is “mighty fine eatin’... might near as good
as Red Snapper.”
In the mid-60’s, Charles, being a man
of faith and dedication to the Gospel, received a most unexpected call of the Lord to the British Isles. He did not question this, but immediately engaged in serious prayer concerning this call. In those days, most Pentecostal preachers were still poor, and had to “pray-in” every dime! So, Charles was faced with quite an obstacle!
He lived near the Gulf of Mexico, but the obstacle he faced in order to obey the Lord’s call was the Atlantic
Ocean!
By a series of unexpected and dramatic provisions
of the Lord, Charles soon found himself in London, England, where he lived and labored, mainly among the poor, downcast, and
disenfranchised, for many years. He Pastored powerfully anointed churches at
Hammersmith, London, and later at Shepherd’s Bush, London, and resided in a flat at Clapham, London, which was believed
by some of the residents in the same building, to be haunted. Whilst there, I
experienced a rather hair-raising event, which I may speak of at some other time.
I can attest to the fact that through the
years, Charles has given, and given, and given of himself and all available resources to the Gospel, and unto those to whom
he ministers. Space will not permit a full treatise of the marvelous results
of this man’s life and ministry, but suffice to say, that some of the hardest and most difficult cases were presented
to him by our Lord, and through the unwavering love, patience, and servanthood of this humble Pastor, those lives were marvelously
and miraculously transformed into mighty trophies of grace! The true move of
God and the true Spirit of Revival has rested upon Charles and his ministry, which has in more recent years, carried him to
North Wales, with also dramatic results in the Gospel.
Charles is not only a fellow minister and
a Brother in the Gospel, but he has been an unfailing friend and source of encouragement to ourselves and the ministry in
which we are engaged. May our Lord Jesus ever bless, keep, and reward our precious
Brother in Christ!
We humbly beseech all who read this, around the
world, to PLEASE place dear Brother Charles upon your prayer lists, and pray most earnestly and sincerely on his behalf! He is now in his upper Seventies, and was doing quite well, until approximately one
year ago, when he was taken-down with a severe heart condition, which has left him in a very weak and impaired state. At last report, he had been in the hospital for three months, and was still greatly
impaired. We have been anxiously awaiting a further report concerning his condition.
