A name with whom many in the Pentecostal and Charismatic circles are well
acquainted is that of: Wade E. Taylor. As a prophetic, End-Time teacher of the
Word of God, Wade’s ministry has transcended national and denominational boundaries, for there has never been evidence
of divisiveness or exclusiveness in his message. Rather, his teachings have a
unifying quality and ability to bring folk together in vision and purpose, under the Headship of Christ. His special gifting and anointing is to impart truth, concerning the Believers’ relationship to Christ,
and to each other.
Wade was born into a Methodist family, near Scranton, Pennsylvania, on
August 24, 1924. Yet, it is most unfortunate that Wade was never privileged to
hear a message on “Salvation” until age 26, when he attended an “Assembly of God” service. The Gospel found resonance in his heart, and he shortly thereafter surrendered his life to Christ; thus
embarking upon his “pilgrimage-journey.”
He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945, as an electronics expert; involved
in the early development and refinement of radar and sonar.
Brother Wade and Sister Mae were married in 1944. Their marriage was blessed with four lovely children, all of whom accepted Christ at early ages and grew
up to live exemplary lives; three of whom have served faithfully in Pastoral ministries and other phases of Christian service.
1956 found the Taylors enrolled at Northeast Bible Institute in Green Lane,
Pennsylvania. Upon graduation in 1959, Wade enrolled in a Fourth-Year program,
at Pine Crest Bible Institute, in Salisbury Center, New York, which operated under the auspices of the Italian Assemblies
of God. He and his family remained there from Fall of 1959, until Spring of 1962. It was during this time, a “call” was given: With a manifest glory of
God surrounding him, Wade was caught up in the Spirit, into a heavenly dimension, wherein the Lord Jesus spoke to his heart,
imparted a vision, and revealed His will for Wade’s life. Of course, as
with all true visions and commissions of our Lord, there must be a proving and testing time: It would be eight years before
the call was realized.
By a remarkable set of circumstances, the Taylors were brought to Elim in
1962. During the following six years, Wade would serve upon the Faculty, Board
of Missions, and as Business Administrator, and also as Pastor of Elim Tabernacle, at Endwell, New York; from 1964 until 1968.
Quite unexpectedly, amidst his duties and responsibilities there, our Lord
Jesus reminded Wade of the “call” that had come in 1960: From this juncture, until the founding of a ministerial
training school in Up-State New York, there was the short span of approximately seven months.
It would require many chapters (indeed, volumes) to properly rehearse the history of the same. TO GOD BE THE GLORY !
Wade and Mae were chosen of our Lord, to raise up this school, where
Wade served as its President, from its inception in Fall of 1968 until his retirement in 1997.
During those twenty-eight years, thousands of young men and women, and older folk as well, were educated, trained,
and graduated! A goodly portion of those entered full-time ministry at home,
and upon the Foreign Fields.
Our dear brother and sister, both now in their Eighties, are still “pressing
on the upward way!” Brother Wade still ministers on a regular basis,
Pastoring and teaching, as well as travelling amongst the Body of Christ. Sister Mae (Mom Taylor as she is affectionately
known) continues to be faithful unto the prayer and intercession ministry, into which our Lord has brought her.
As with all “men of God” who have said an: “Eternal-YES,”
Wade has, throughout his ministry, endured hardship, as a good soldier of the cross; and has been the target of many a fiery
dart from hell! As Peter of old, Satan has desired to sift him as wheat, but thank God for the blessed consolation:
"...but I have prayed for thee..." (Luke 22:32). Yes, our Lord Jesus, by His infinite grace and mercy, has preserved Wade,
and brought him safely across the span of time (and through the fire without even the smell of smoke upon him), unto this
present hour; as a Father and Prophetic Teacher unto the Body of Christ.
In my many years of fellowship with “Brother Taylor,” I have known him
to be “a man after God’s own heart,” and a man of mercy, compassion, and forgiveness; even unto those who
have hurt him the most! For those who know our dear brother, all will agree that
two small words, best characterize the heart and spirit of this gentle and caring soul: “Yes, Lord ! ! !” These words have been Wade’s motto and watch-word throughout his Christian experience. Wade and Mae love you all very dearly in Christ, and covet the earnest prayers of
you all.
