James
and Nancy Finn are seasoned veterans when it comes to “Old-Time Revival” and the “Move of God.” They both were born into fervent Pentecostal families, and both were children of preachers. In those days, Pentecostal families “lived, moved, and had their beings”
in the presence of God, and under the unction of the Holy Spirit. It was “Jesus
in the morning, Jesus at the noon time, and Jesus when the sun went down.” Amen! (How wonderful it would be if such were still true today! This is what America and the World needs and cries for!) “Oh,
Holy Ghost, Revival comes from Thee, Send a Revival; Start the Work in me . . .”
James
and Nancy started married life off, on the right foot! Their honeymoon was spent
while preaching a powerful Revival at Bowling Green, Kentucky. I’d say,
“That’s a good beginning!” Over the years, James and
Nancy have travelled far, and have preached and ministered to multiplied thousands of people, at home and on the foreign fields. It fell Nancy’s lot to, much of the time remain at home; caring for their two
precious daughters, both of whom, from their infancy (almost) joined Daddy and Mama in Revival Meetings; singing, and blessing
the congregations.
Sister
Nancy’s parents hailed from the “Assemblies of God,” in which her father served for many years as a Pastor,
whereas Brother Jim’s parents had come from Baptist and United Brethren backgrounds, before coming into the Pentecostal
experience. Jim’s dad, “Pastor Harry Finn,” served as Pastor
of numerous churches, and Jim’s dear mother, “Estelle,” spent most of her free time in deep prayer and intercession,
often weeping over the lost, and over those in need of healing, etc., until the wee hours of the morning. Such was the environment into which Jim and Nancy were born, and in which they grew up.
Brother
Jim was a “Boy-Preacher,” beginning his official ministry at age eleven.
By age twelve and thirteen, he would often have to drive on Sunday mornings, way down into the country, in the Ozark
Mountains, to little churches, over which his father served as Bishop. “Papa
Harry” could not be everywhere at once, so, very often, James would have to fill in, here or there. The same was true of their tent meetings, where at times, Brother Jim would have to conduct the meetings
by himself (a pretty tall order for a twelve-year-old kid, but God was with him, and working through him).
In
1948, the Finn Family was introduced to the wonderful Revival spreading across America and around the world, known as the
“Latter Rain Outpouring.” It was not long before the mighty power
of that Revival enveloped Dad and Mom Finn, and Brother James, bringing them into an entirely new dimension of ministry, which
emphasized the fullness of the Holy Spirit with the Spiritual Gifts (healings, miracles, and deliverances being the order
of the day). Brother Jim has never lost this anointing! Wherever he goes, the same unction, the same anointing, and the same works, accompany and follow his ministry,
wherever there are hungry hearts, and wherever folk will believe and receive!
James
has been privileged to carry the Gospel of Jesus Christ to thirty-two nations, and to have raised-up orphanages in Romania,
France, and Mexico. Along with their many years of evangelistic ministry, Jim
and Nancy have pioneered sixteen churches in: Missouri, Arkansas, Kentucky, Alabama, Tennessee, New York, and in other states
as well. Brother Jim has served upon the Faculties of three different Bible Schools
and earned a Doctor of Divinity Degree, some twenty-five years ago. His most
recent Pastorate was in Catskill, New York, where he founded a Pentecostal, Move of God, church, and faithfully served there
as Pastor, for over twenty years.
Both James
and Nancy have been through serious physical battles in recent years, but thanks be unto God, He has brought them out of the
fire, without even the smell of the smoke upon them! From their present base,
near Springfield, Missouri, they are still very active, and still reaching out to souls in need! At last report, they were both feeling nearly back to full strength, and preparing to engage upon a ministry
tour to the East Coast. Please pray for our dear brother and sister, as they
continue to uphold the Blood-Stained Banner of Jesus Christ, and to win souls, and minister to the needy, hurting, and hopeless.
