A Challenge
To God's People

"The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and My people love to have it so: and
what will ye do in the end thereof?" (Jeremiah 5:31).
Today
God is looking for men and women who will be willing to tear down false professions, shams, and hypocrisies among God's people,
in order that a planting may be done on sure foundations.
We
dodge facts, and then we wonder why God doesn't work mightily in our midst. Instead of honoring God and His Word, we honor
and praise men and women. We don't want to hurt their feelings regardless of how we grieve God's Spirit.
Listen
to the words of Jesus, the Son of God, “How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour
that cometh from God only?” (John 5:44).
God
has not changed. He waits to be gracious, to answer prayer whenever His unchanging conditions are met.
If
a light globe will not burn, - no use to keep tightening it in the socket. Look for the cause of the failure. Examine the
connections. See if there is anything between the live wire and the globe that causes a break in the connection.
The
reason God's prophets have been persecuted is because they dared to preach the truth, and the people, so many of them, are
not willing to accept the truth. Yet thousands of people will never be free until the truth of God is given them. “Ye
shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32).
As
we approach the close of this dispensation, we face perilous times when iniquity shall abound and the love of many shall wax
cold. For this very reason there is all the more need for the direct application of the Word of God, - the truth of the Scriptures
to every situation.
A
veneer, a crust has formed over the consciences of multitudes of God's people. The Laodicean age is here. Oh, for a John the
Baptist to proclaim the Word of God to a self-satisfied people! Where is the old time Holy Ghost conviction of sin? Brethren,
we have drifted from our moorings. Let us return to our first love, - to a heart hunger for souls, to a compassion and tender
love for the brethren, to a real spirit of Holy Ghost prayer, to a readiness and an attitude of expectancy, - “looking
for” the coming of the Lord. Surely His coming draweth NIGH!
