PLEASE SCROLL DOWN TO VIEW PICTURES Urgent Needs For The Church In Attica: Attica Center Baptist Church has been a Lighthouse and a Soul-Saving-Station, since 1821. The present edifice, is the third, having been erected in 1915. It is a lovely "Country-Church” and very soundly constructed, but it stands seriously in need of repair. The congregation is not wealthy and the needed repairs are urgent.  The most urgent needs include: A new roof which is leaking badly; new gutters; new storm windows; scraping and painting; carpentry repairs; plumbing and heating system upgrades; stone for the parking lot; concrete for the basement floor; plaster repair; and masonary work on the foundation. The above listed repairs are only those absolutely urgent ones (the interior also needs painting, repairs in the vestibule, and carpeting). This lovely little “Church in the Wildwood,” is worthy of repair, seeing as it has served ten generations, and is mortgage free. Please pray very earnestly, regarding this matter. God bless you! There are two layers of shingles over cedar shakes, so with that much weight on the roof, we cannot put another layer of shingles over top of the existing ones.  The top layer of shingles have deteriorated beyond the point of being patched or repaired.  The only proper way to fix a roof in this condition  is a completer tear-off of the old shingles, and replacemnet of new wood sheeting, new flashing, and new shingles.  The approximate cost of materials to do this is about $4000.00.  Please consider what you could do to help save this roof.  This is perhaps the most important thing that needs immediate attention, because once it is fixed, all of the other interior leakage problems will stop. The exterior of the entire building desperately needs to be painted.  The church still has its original cedar clapboards, which will need some repair and replacement in places, but for the most part, they are in good shape.  However, until the building is scraped and painted, further deterioration is imminent.  We recently received a donation of some paint to get started, but are still believing God for the remaining supplies necessary to complete the task.  We will be starting on the painting very soon.  The total approximate cost of paint and supplies needed to finish the job is about $1000.00, and the rental of a lift for a week to do the work on the bell tower (both painting and roof repair) is about $800.00.  Thank you for your kind consideration and prayers in this matter! When I started Pastoring here, the original parking lot could park eight cars.  Since that time, we have been able to do some excavation work in preparation for a larger parking lot which will be approximately 100 feet by 100 feet square.  Still small by today's standards, but much better than before.  You can see from the picture where we were able to remove the topsoil and level the land in order to eventually put down stone.  Currently, the majority of the parking lot remains as shown, being dirt with some grass growing in it.  When wet, it is muddy and not suitable to park cars.  We have already secured the fiber mesh, which goes on before the stone.  However, we are still believing God for the stone, for the delivery of it, and for the bulldozer work needed to spread it and level it.  The approximate cost of the stone is $3000.00, the cost of delivery if we do it ourself with a borrowed dumptruck will be about $1000.00, and the dozer work will be about $1000.00.  Thank you for your prayers regarding this urgent need! In this picture, you can see one of the many areas of leakage in the interior of the building, due to the roof deterioration.  Every time it rains, more water leaks in and damages the paint, plaster, and framing of the building.  Once repairs on the roof are complete, all such damage will cease, and we will then be able to make the repairs needed to the plaster, and repaint the interior of the sanctuary.  The approximate cost of supplies in order to do this will be about $2000.00.  It is so sad to see one of God's houses of worship get to this point, and yet with some supplies and volunteer labor, we can restore it to its orginal condition and make it presentable once again.  Thank you for your prayers and concern with regard to the interior work that needs to be done!
