A FRIEND DONATES THE USE OF HIS SCAFFOLDING
One of the worst leaks in the
roof was on the front of the bell tower where it graduates to a narrower width. This is a three-sided roof that wraps
around the front and sides of the bell tower about 20 feet up. A local friend and contractor offered to let us borrow
his scaffolding apparatus for as long as we need in order to more easily fix the front roof and get some of the higher scraping
and painting done. What a helpful blessing!
GETTING STARTED WITH THE TEAR-OFF
In the first two pictures you
can see me on the left pulling at the old metal roofing, with my Dad and friend, Jake, on the scaffold plank. This roof
had been leaking for years because of deterioration and improper flashing. It felt so good to finally get it torn off
and thrown away, so we could start making the needed repairs.
NEW ROOF SHEETING BOARDS BEING INSTALLED
Once we finished tearing the
old roofing off, we were ready to start sheeting. Although some of the old roofing boards were really rotted away, the
framing was still strong enough to attach the new sheeting onto. Now the roof is solid and strong again, and at this
point was ready for the shingles.
WITH OUR LORD'S
HELP AND THE SUPPORT OF THOSE WHO WOULD BE SO KIND AS TO MAKE CONTRIBUTIONS TO THIS WORTHY CAUSE, AND WITH YOUR PRAYERS,
AND THE PRAYERS OF THE BODY OF CHRIST, WE BELIEVE THAT GOD WILL MAKE A WAY FOR THE RESTORATION OF THIS GOSPEL LIGHTHOUSE!
