Ken and Donna Morrison have made their home for many years in Florida, where
they continue to faithfully serve the Lord Jesus Christ and His Body. I have
known Ken and Donna since 1965, when we were colleagues at the same school of ministry.
Donna (a granddaughter of Ivan and Minnie Spencer) grew up in Africa with her missionary-mother, Eva Butler, who labored
there for many years, and brought the Full Gospel to the Masai tribe. Ken was
born in 1940, into a Wesleyan Methodist family, but at age thirteen, his attention was drawn away to a nearby “liberal
church,” which hosted a basketball team and Sunday night dances. This shift
in focus brought an increasing “cooling-off” in Ken’s Christian experience.
After four years of enlistment in the U.S.
Marine Corps, Ken returned home. All seemed well, yet there was a growing sense
of dissatisfaction, and an increasing emptiness in his soul. The Lord was dealing
in Ken’s life, drawing him into long seasons of prayer, in a large old closet in his grandmother’s home, and to
read her Bible for hours at a time. Day after day, his search continued until
one day, he was led to Luke 13:2-5. A bright light actually shone upon these
verses (with no apparent light from the window or in the room). Then and there,
Ken prayed through, and committed his life to Christ.
A short time later, he attended a little church
for an evening service. As the worship began, a strange new sensation swept over
him, when a powerful unction of the Holy Spirit raised him out of the chair with an eloquent message in tongues, followed
by an interpretation/prophecy. The place was shaken mightily by the power of
God. Sensing a powerful anointing resting upon Ken, the Elders requested that
he assist them in praying over three very seriously ill parishioners. By the
grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, all three were instantly and dramatically healed. (All
Glory to God!)
Later, at another church, a guest speaker
was present (Edwin Corley), who so ably and skillfully taught the Scriptures, that Ken was awed by what he had heard. At the end of the service, Brother Corley spoke prophetically that Ken was called
to the ministry, and was being led to attend a particular school of ministry. January,
1965, found Ken enrolled at that school, and greatly rejoicing in his spiritual growth and development. It was then, that Ken and Donna first met; they would be joined in holy matrimony the following September. Their marriage was blessed with three precious children, all of whom were trained
in the Gospel and led to the Lord from early childhood.
After three years in the school of ministry, Ken
and Donna went forth upon their journey of life. Being able teachers of the Word,
they have served faithfully over the years in numerous locations, and in various capacities of ministry in local churches;
and in the teaching and mentoring of disciples for Christian service. Ken earned
his B.A. in Biblical Studies, in 2001, and later went on, to earn his M. Div.
